bio.
Darryll McFadyen is a record producer, mixer and engineer.
His career began in Barcelona, Spain in the 2000's where he started producing and recording bands and singer-songwriters of all genres.
With such experience in a multicultural city, Darryll began to follow some of his clients to their homelands to fulfill projects which then led to working with other associated artists in many different parts of the world.
Trips to New York in 2011 and 2013 became very important to Darryll's development as he started knocking on the doors of some of the top studios in the city which then led to him assisting and engineering for clients in studios in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
This was when the taste for studio life became a very high priority.
On his return to Scotland, the birth of his first creative space gave him the foundations to build on his experiences. He set up a small recording studio in a flat in Cowdenbeath, Fife, which served as a production house for many local artists. Whilst doing this, he also enrolled in college so as to refine his knowledge of audio engineering and sound production.
Opportunities began to appear.
The journey continued on to recording and mixing for Sofar Sounds, working as in-house engineer at a top studio in Glasgow, and freelancing all over Britain, Europe and USA, where Darryll has continued to work with multiple artists, genres and formats including TV, Film, Game and Audio Books.
Darryll has a vision and goal of working with as many artists as he possibly can from very different genres, pushing and expanding his boundaries as a producer and engineer.

As a record producer and recording engineer, Darryll's years of experience with artists in the creative space of a studio have given him the tools necessary to take the simplest of demos and turn them into the fullest of productions.
He is meticulously detailed in his approach to producing a song and/or album from start to finish. Darryll prides himself on knowing how to get the best out of the artists and creatives he works with.

After working out of some of the best studios in the world, Darryll understands the importance of pairing the right project with the right creative space to get the right sound for the record.

At his home studio, an analogue desk at a commercial facility, or remotely via Audiomovers, there is a solution to fit everyone's taste.
At his home studio, a hybrid mixing approach is taken, using various pieces of outboard gear, guitar pedals and guitar amps to hone in on the best sound pallet for the record.
He has worked on a wide range of genres, from Rock, Pop, and Jazz to Indie, Traditional, and EDM and is open to all types of projects which all serves as proof to his creativity within his art form.

dornford studio.
Situated in the seaside town of Burntisland, Fife, Dornford Studio is Darryll's family home. A great, cosy, little spot where all types of recordings can be made.
It holds a collection of musical instruments, outboard gear, guitar pedals, and amps, which are all available to use in a session.
